Straw Hat Hostel

If you’re looking to party right away in Tulum, then this should be your first stop. Located in the town center, about a 30 min bike ride to the beach is the infamous Straw Hat Hostel.

In our opinion, it’s one of the best hostels in Tulum to party. Don’t expect to get any sleep here, however, and you won’t be living in luxury like some other hostels.

The hostel has all sorts of fun drinking games such as ‘spin the wheel’, where you’ll land on anything from a free shot to jumping naked in the pool!

The beds and rooms themselves are pretty standard, but nothing exceptional, considering it is a budget and party hostel – expect just the bare minimum.

The party on the rooftop typically starts around 10, and they allow all guests to joing, so it does get crowded almost every night of the week! The party usually lasts until 1-3am until people disperse and usually go next door to Santino Club.

Mayan Monkey Hostel

One of the most famous hostels in Tulum, Mayan Monkey features an impressive pool, outdoor bar, and courtyard area. Located a bit out of the town center towards the beach, they also have bike rentals for 250 pesos per day for easy access to the beach. It’s a massive hostel so you’ll easily meet other travellers.

One of our favourite things about Mayan Monkey is that it’s much closer to the beach than other hostels in town (only a 15 minute bike ride). It also has an air conditioned co-working space so you can get some work done during the day, and go out partying at night.

Although it is a lot more expensive than hostels located further into the town, you’ll have access to the beach, parties, complimentary breakfast, and many facilities for a fantastic stay.

Selina provides a wide range of accommodation options, from double private ensuites to dorms of various sizes, making it a great choice for people of all types – such as solo travellers, couples, and families – and pet owners as well.
